Marcell Kustos - 2024 LET Scholar

The Len Evans Tutorial welcomes Marcell Kustos as a 2024 Scholar.

Marcell is a hospitality professional and MW student with a background in winemaking and wine sensory science. As a fine wine and hospitality consultant, he provides comprehensive customer experience management services for winery cellar doors and restaurants.

Marcell's diverse background brings a unique perspective on wine, from grape to glass. He completed a PhD in Wine Sensory Science (University of Adelaide, UC Davis) focusing on Australian terroir, food, wine and emotional pairings and went on to apply scientific theories at Australia’s fine dining establishments. As the head sommelier at Penfolds Magill Estate, he created one of the country's most extensive champagne lists. As the beverage director at Restaurant Botanic, he developed the beverage program and all elements of service from concept to a multi-award-winning establishment. Since 2018, Marcell has been producing single vineyard-focused wines under LVDO Wines from Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale vineyards.

After judging at national and regional wine shows for many years, Marcell is incredibly excited to taste with a diverse group of like-minded wine professionals and develop and learn from each other over the week.
