Rohan Smith - 2024 LET Scholar

Introducing Rohan Smith of Medhurst Wines as a 2024 Len Evans Tutorial Scholar.

Rohan is a passionate winemaker dedicated to showcasing the unique terroir of his vineyards. With extensive experience in both vineyard management and winemaking, he has developed a particular affinity for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. His journey through the Mornington Peninsula culminated in the role as winemaker at Handpicked Wines, where he contributed to a lineup of award-winning wines and now, as Chief Winemaker at Medhurst Wines in the Yarra Valley, he is crafting wines that express the wonderful fruit from this
beautiful site.

Throughout his career Rohan has given his time to many regional activities and committees believing in the power of community and collaboration. A strong advocate for the wine show system, Rohan recognises its vital role in promoting excellence at both regional and national levels. He has judged at numerous shows and currently serves as Committee Chair for the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards, where he sees an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of one of Australia’s premier wine shows.

Rohan thrives on the diversity of the wine industry, valuing the camaraderie and lessons learned through shared experiences. He is excited to embrace the life-changing week of the Len Evans Tutorial and utilise this experience to continue contributing to the industry.
