The LET Foundation has partnered with the Sydney Royal Wine Show and the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation (RASF) to offer a scholarship to attend the AWRI’s AWAC course in 2021. Applications are now open for the 2020 Len Evans Tutorial, which this year celebrates 20 years, having seen close to 230 scholars attend what is said to be ‘the greatest wine school on earth’. In 2020, twelve lucky Australian wine professionals will attend Spicers Guesthouse in the Hunter Valley from Monday, 2 November until Friday, 6 November. The 18th Len Evans Tutorial was held in the Hunter Valley from the 5th to 9th November 2018, with Tim Dolan, Senior Winemaker at Peter Lehmann Wines in the Barossa Valley, winning the Basil Sellers Prize for Dux. Len Evans Tutorial Trustee James Halliday noted that Tim judged exceedingly well across all aspects of the week long Tutorial. Tim will be flown business class to Europe with invitations to the greatest wine houses. The 17th Len Evans Tutorial was held recently in the Hunter Valley from 6th November to 10th November 2017. The Basil Sellers Prize for Dux went to Julian Grounds, Head Winemaker/General Manager at Margaret River winery McHenry Hohnen. As Dux of the 2017 course, Julian has now been guaranteed judging positions at two of Australia’s most premier wine shows, the Sydney Royal Wine Show and the National Wine Show in Canberra.
