Applications open for 2020 in 20th anniversary year

Applications are now open for the 2020 Len Evans Tutorial, which this year celebrates 20 years, having seen close to 230 scholars attend what is said to be ‘the greatest wine school on earth’. In 2020, twelve lucky Australian wine professionals will attend Spicers Guesthouse in the Hunter Valley from Monday, 2 November until Friday, 6 November. Tim Dolan awarded Basil Sellers Prize for Dux at the 2018 Len Evans Tutorial

The 18th Len Evans Tutorial was held in the Hunter Valley from the 5th to 9th November 2018, with Tim Dolan, Senior Winemaker at Peter Lehmann Wines in the Barossa Valley, winning the Basil Sellers Prize for Dux. Len Evans Tutorial Trustee James Halliday noted that Tim judged exceedingly well across all aspects of the week long Tutorial. Julian Grounds awarded Basil Sellers prize for Dux at the 2017 Len Evans tutorial

The 17th Len Evans Tutorial was held recently in the Hunter Valley from 6th November to 10th November 2017. The Basil Sellers Prize for Dux went to Julian Grounds, Head Winemaker/General Manager at Margaret River winery McHenry Hohnen. As Dux of the 2017 course, Julian has now been guaranteed judging positions at two of Australia’s most premier wine shows, the Sydney Royal Wine Show and the National Wine Show in Canberra. Stuart Hordern awarded Len Evans Tutorial Dux for 2016

The Len Evans Tutorial Dux for 2016 is Stuart Hordern, Senior Winemaker at Brokenwood Wines in the Hunter Valley. Stuart becomes only the second Hunter Valley based attendee to dux the week-long Tutorial, following Liz Silkman (nee Jackson) in 2006. The Len Evans Tutorial is also this year’s recipient of the McWilliam’s Maurice O’Shea Award. This prestigious biennial award, first presented in 1990, acknowledges the significant contribution of an individual or company to the Australian Wine Industry. The Len Evans Tutorial has won the Australian wine industry’s most prestigious accolade – the McWilliam’s Maurice O’Shea Award. Held every two years, the Maurice O’Shea Award recognises an individual or group for their outstanding contribution to the wine industry. The Len Evans Tutorial Qantas Dux for 2015 is Adam Cotterell from Melbourne. Adam is the Retail Sales and Events Manager at City Wine Shop Melbourne which is obviously a training ground for the LET with a previous Dux and two scholars coming from City Wine Shop.
